The remake of Lunar 2 Eternal Blue remains a true faithful to the original MegaCD version. Released since the 23rd July 1998, the response worldwide has been lukewarm to fantastic. Overall, most people are quite pleased with the product.
To dispell most veterans of Lunar Eternal Blue expecting a total remake, here is the long and short of things.
In most parts, it feels like the same thing all over. Although, it is really a hybrid of both worlds. You get the feeling that the programmers have taken what they felt was good from the MegaCD and Silver Star Story remake.
The music remains mostly unchanged but rather remixed with that overall symphonic feel. However, in certain parts, it has to be said that the MegaCD overworld map and certain towns are are still better (IMHO)!
Nevertheless, the generous doses of digital anime CG (GONZO) throughout Lunar more than appease of the unquenchable thrist of the the Lunar fan. This is digital animation at its highest! Even the super enhanced animation sequences were faithfully redrawn with the same camera angles, except for the additional new anime storyboards.
Such was the masssive fan response for this remake, that the storyline remained mostly unchanged. Links to the past (Silver Star Story) managed to tie up many loose ends! In fact, the whole concept of Lunar is seen in new light inded! Overall, this has a really nostalgic feel to it.
Whether there exists any new twists or surprises we cannot divulge. You will just have to journey
further within and explore Lunar for yourselves...heh heh heh!
Trust me though. The anime and story itself are worth the price of admission alone!
